Our 'Mid Wales' Road Trip 2025

Due to the success and popularity of this tour in 2024, we have decided to run this tour again in 2025!!

A two-night tour focusing on some of our favourite Welsh roads, focusing on the less-frequented 'mid' of the country.

Monday 24th - Wednesday 26th March 2025.

It is for good reason that Wales receives thousands of visitors a year. From the Snowdonia National Park in the North to the Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire Coast in the south, the country is packed with beautiful vistas - whether rocky mountains, sandy beaches, craggy coastlines, rocky mountains and crystal clear lakes.

Despite its relatively small size, it really is possible to get away from civilisation in Wales - particularly in the middle, a region far less frequented by tourists.

Here, small roads lead to areas which feel so remote that you could be in another country. And the scenery out there is breath-taking.

Having spent many years of childhood (and now adult) holidays here, I felt it was time to set up what I believe is the perfect Mid-Wales road-trip. This tour is built from the experience of three family generations (and Welsh heritage)!

Expect to drive along spectacular meandering roads that lead you to remote unspoilt lakes, tiny hamlets and farmsteads over wonderful passes with panoramic views.

We'll visit the unspoilt coastline with small seaside towns clinging to the rockface.

We'll go to some real gems that don't crop up on the standard Welsh road trips - but we'll also visit many of the 'must-sees' too.

We'll stay in two wonderful traditional hotels with super restaurants and views to match. One of the hotels is a fantastic spa hotel on the shore of Lake Vyrnwy!

With our usual perfect combination of amazing drives with varied Points Of Interest on the way, this is going to be one not to miss!

Day 1

Our meeting point will be in the town of Llandovery, just on the northern edge of the Breacon Beacons, where we will have a quick briefing at 9am, hand out the equipment you need and get straight into the action.

We'll head along some truly remote roads, over the steep Devil's Staircase. We will pass remote lakes and reservoirs, heading over a dam

before we stop for a pub lunch.

Then, we'll head up the coast through the historic town of Machynlleth, and drive Bwlch Oerddrws pass to our first hotel!

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast we'll be starting our journey along the wonderful coastal road, with our first stop in the lovely town of Aberdovey. Then we'll head north, over the Mawddach Estuary via an amazing old toll bridge, before finishing our drive along the coastal road to the town of Harlech.

After some time to explore the towna nd castle and get some lunch, we'll head over a fantastic pass road heading for Capel Caylin, Bala and then over the Hellfire Pass to our stop for the night, the spa hotel at Lake Vyrnwy.

Day 3

This morning we will head south again, taking us along some roads that form part of the Dyfi Rally stage, through Machynlleth and onto another pass road that has some particularly beautiful scenic viewpoints, including a panoramic viewpoint of the whole of the south region of Snowdonia National Park. This is one of our favourites drives of the whole area.

A visit to the fantastic waterfalls at Devils Bridge, along the fantastically desolate 'Mohican Road' finishing our tour around the Elan Valley with its multiple dams and reservoirs.
